route concepts

ive always been used to passing trees and specifics... from high school on up to college... so how do some of you guys teach your passing game from route concepts...???

i know you compliment them just like you would by using a passing tree but just wanted to hit up some ideas from you guys who are already established in usign this method in your "playbook"

I am new to the pistol offense, but I have always used letters for my routes from outside in on playside.

Ex: 14 power pass OC which has my WB doing a 5 yd out and my TE doing a 8 yd corner. This way I have been able to adjust any pattern based on the defensive adjustments.
